Entry of influenza A virus into host cells — recent progress and remaining challenges

چکیده

Influenza A viruses (IAV) are a major burden for human health and thus the topic of intense research efforts. The entry IAV into host cells is particular interest as early infection steps ideal target intervention strategies. Here, we review recent key findings in field entry. Specifically, discuss identification novel receptors, emerging role viral neuraminidase entry, well progress from structural studies on hemagglutinin during fusion process matrix protein involved virus uncoating. We also highlight remaining gaps our understanding point out important questions ongoing

Chronic refractory angina pectoris: recent progress and remaining challenges

Refractory angina, also described as chronic refractory angina pectoris (CRAP), classically occurs in patients with advanced, often diffuse coronary artery disease (CAD) that failed to be completely revascularized by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and/or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) with remaining angina pectoris symptoms despite maximized pharmacological intervention. In the m...

The Mechanism of Poly-Galloyl-Glucoses Preventing Influenza A Virus Entry into Host Cells

Hemagglutinin (HA) is essential for Influenza A virus infection, but its diversity of subtypes presents an obstacle to developing broad-spectrum HA inhibitors. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms by which poly-galloyl glucose (pGG) analogs inhibit influenza hemagglutinin (HA) in vitro and in silico. We found that (1) star-shaped pGG analogs exhibit HA-inhibition activity by ...

Influenza A virus entry into cells lacking sialylated N-glycans.

Influenza A virus (IAV) enters host cells after attachment of its hemagglutinin (HA) to surface-exposed sialic acid. Sialylated N-linked glycans have been reported to be essential for IAV entry [Chu VC, Whittaker GR (2004) Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 102:18153-18158], thereby implicating the requirement for proteinaceous receptors in IAV entry. Here we show, using different N-acetylglucosaminyl tran...

Melaleuca alternifolia concentrate inhibits in vitro entry of influenza virus into host cells.

Influenza virus causes high morbidity among the infected population annually and occasionally the spread of pandemics. Melaleuca alternifolia Concentrate (MAC) is an essential oil derived from a native Australian tea tree. Our aim was to investigate whether MAC has any in vitro inhibitory effect on influenza virus infection and what mechanism does the MAC use to fight the virus infection. In th...

Entry of influenza A virus: host factors and antiviral targets.

Influenza virus is a major human pathogen that causes annual epidemics and occasional pandemics. Moreover, the virus causes outbreaks in poultry and other animals, such as pigs, requiring costly and laborious countermeasures. Therefore, influenza virus has a substantial impact on health and the global economy. Here, we review entry of this important pathogen into target cells, an essential proc...
